Thats why I like my AEM v2.
Large diameter flowing pipe and the filter in the inner wing.
Now I've got the Hydro shield on it I've opened up the faux vent allowing fresh cool air straight into the filter.
The filter has been on well over a year now through standing water and some terrible storms with no detrimental effect whatsoever
The hydro shield just needs washing every couple of months - just a rinse under the tap.
And it sounds

I quite like them, except the extreme length from the filter head to the engine itself - couldn't be any longer and it must affect the velocity a bit!
That and the fact you have to take the bumper off
If you have a spare $3800 then this is the most well thought out intake I have seen, by ASM. While I had the Gruppe M, I never thought the intake part was as good as it could be. This thing goes for the same Gruppe M design, but with a very wide mouth snorkel - which suggests they thought a normal one couldnt flow enough air.
To put it into context though, you can get a good supercharger for the same price

Thanks for the comments people.
It's coming up for it's 27k service when we get back from holiday in a couple of weeks, so might change the OEM filter for a K&N then. At least I won't need to buy a new filter anytime soon If I do that!
Si.

I run this set up and I know it keeps ambient temp on the move and its deffinately not restrictive, the heat sheild is removed that normaly covers the airhorn
