Default just smashed my record

had to go up to liverpool today for work, that's a 400 mile round trip.

looked out the window at 6.30am this morning and it wasn't raining so decided i'd take my car rather than the van.

filled her to the brim with BP ultimate, i normally use optimax but as i was at a service station i didn't have a choice.

did the journey at a steady 70-80mph, only really slowing down for 2 sections of 50mph roadworks. had probably 3 vtec sliproad blasts, and a couple of vtec overtakes.

on 43.73 litres of fuel i managed 321 miles.

i was stunned at this, previous best i've had out of a tank is 240 and that was really pushing it by driving with no bars showing for a good while.

i make that 33.37mpg.

on another note, 400 miles in the drivers seat today, taking a half hour break while i did what i needed to do in liverpool, and i didn't once have any back ache, or feel uncomfortable in any way.

the S really is showing another side to it that i wasn't expecting when i bought it

my usual tanks of fuel last around 200 miles, so i don't drive like a girl all the time

It's not just driving like a girl that does it. It's the non-stop start driving. Doing my 7 miles to work and back, the most I ever get is 240, even driving like a girl. On a long journey to the lakes though, I got 370 out of 47.5 litres, even with a couple of blasts down the back roads.

Edit: Just to renounce my girl-driving credentials. I did manage 120 miles on a full tank, including driving to the track, and I've got as low as 150 miles on the road, so I don't always hang around!

Damn it - I bet 280 miles, so you blitzed that!! Best I've had is about 250, but then my drive to work is only 7 miles each way, mostly stop start traffic. I'm sure on a run I'd top 300 miles, but I always veer off the motorway and head fof to find some fast A/B roads, which instantly kills any economy drive - but then, thats why I bought an S2000 rather than another 320D Sport
