Default Just Driven my first S2000

Hi people, Just driven my first S2000 today at Alan Day Honda (portsmouth) 05 reg.

Thought the car was lovely. Bit jerky at first (prob cause it was cold, or i cant drive)

feel in love with the car.

Prob is I have 15,000 to spend on the car, they tell me then 2001 is the max I will get.
( 1 Years Warranty with the car, free MOTs for Life) as long its serviced by them

Is there much different from the one I drove today?

They Say not but Cosmetics.

This car is not for me, its for my wife, want to make sure she is not going to put it in to the first bush she sees,

Just want the wife to be safe, as i have a company car Audi 2.0tdi

Wished it was mine to drive all the time,

Advice NEEDED looked at the Boxter and Z3

What would you put your wife in.

If it was me S2000

Can I Have confidence in this Car.

Please Help if you can.............

Mark

If she can drive she will be fine, it not she will bin it sharpish.

Ask yourself, does she adjust for conditions and is she a smoothe driver?

To be honest if she wants the car more for pose than driving then I'd say go for the Boxster (unless you can afford the Boxster S)..... Either that or buy a later MY02+ S2000 privately

Although I have a MY00 S they are rather twitchy on the back end and unless she drives very smoothly and carefully in the wet it might result in a hedge finding mission!

Here was my review after my first ever drive in an S: CLICKY

Get your wife to drive it rather than you, and see if she gets on with it.

How experienced a driver is she?

If you're getting a Boxster, save more and buy an S. If you can't raise any more dosh, buy an S2000 as it'll humiliate a standard Boxster 2.5. I bought my '00 for 15.5k 18 months ago, so I reckon you'd find a good '02 (possibly with hard top) for that kind of money these days.

She is been driving for 7 years, But has never driven a sports car with rear wheel drive,

Just a bit unsure, we are on the south coast so we never really have Snow or Ice.

does the 2001 spin out more then say a 2003 read so many things on here. bit confused

She wont dive it with a sales man next to her, I told her there was no point buying it unless she liked the DRIVE.

I will have a look on here for a car for sale.

anyone interested in selling me a decent 1 for

She HAS to drive the car first before considering it. It's a powerful RWD car with no traction control. I've come from a FWD car, and had never owned a RWD car and it IS definitely a car you need to respect. In the wet it needs to be respected and you have to adjust your driving (VTEC in corners and changing gears in corners in the wet is a )

If she can drive ok, then it is an awesome car. Good luck on the search.

Where abouts on south coast are you ?

I too live on the south coast and although it doesn't get as cold and icy donw here you have to respect the car, especially in the wet.

All depends how your wife drives it though. You can keep the car out of VTEC, ie up to around 6000rpm and it will pretty well much behave itself, but still maintain reasonable performance. That's the beauty of this car, you can either have it in sensible run around mode or axe weilding psycho killer mode.

The 2002 models had slightly different suspension geometry settings which made the car slightly softer and more manageable on the limit. Any pre 2002 car can have the setting adjusted to this for around
