Just a quick paranoid question I cant see any reason why not but is it ok to jump start a diesel mondeo from the S2000 ?

And yes that is a serious question, its clearly not my mondeo.

Many thanks.

The RAC man told me never to do it as the fluctuation in voltage can scew up the ECU?

AFAIK diesel alternators are hungry beasts, so I wouldn't like to use my S to feed it. Again maybe paranoia through lack of knowledge, but I'm confrotable with that.

Well I've jump started our Citroen C8 from a Fiat 600.

I reckon its nonsense but I'm sure someone will be aloong soon to speak in voltage terms

Your S is still under warranty, assuming your profile is accurate. That means you'll have Honda Care call out thingummy, no?

Go for it

I've jump started my diesel tractor, wife's porsche and my old truck from the S. It's not a big battery but when the car is running that is not a concern.

i think your S battery is so piddly the mundano will just grunt

diesels have about 3 times higher compression than petrols so pull some serious amps on the starter..

i had a browse and the web says a typical petrol needs 120-180 amps to start whereas a typical diesel needs 200-300 amps

(a vantage needs 400 amps!!!)

i wouldn't.. i'd push the diesel instead (off a cliff)

Lol oddly enough the diesel is to be sold very soon.
Good to read that speed_bump has successful used it to start stuff.
Mostly I just wanted to know if there was some overriding weird reason not to do it, sounds like it should be ok.
Going to try about 3pm, assume it worked if I dont postback and thanks for your thoughts.
