Default The Journey begins: Order of Operations

Hey hey!

I’ve finally started my journey of acquiring an S2000 and would like some advice on the order of operations to restore and also recommendations for South East London.

I have my eyes on a 2006+ GT (for the hard top!) and want to have it fully painted in a custom colour and fully coated for rust.

I also plan on suspension, wheels, seats, and some light tuning through the years as part of a multi-year journey whilst enjoying the car at every stage.

Is a full paint and rust coating the right first step or should I be only doing that after I’ve gotten certain upgrades done?

I’ve seen lots of recommendations for TGM but they seem awfully busy and haven’t yet responded to my inquiries. It’d be ideal to have restoration and then ongoing upgrades, tuning, and maintenance all from the same team; from the mechanical to interior.

Thanks!

Start with a good one without visible rust - once it starts it's like cancer, very difficult to stop. I know the rumour is that they are rust buckets, but I don't agree. I know rustfree ones exist as my 2002 is. I'm not selling though.

Are you referring to rust on the body panels, underbody, or both?
I do see at least some on the underbody in most examples.

Fixing and maintenance should always come before tuning and upgrading
