Well there's not a massive number of parts to choose from on a short block at least not parts that could cause the problems experienced.

I don't think it would take you long to work out

I would say bearings and bearing shells for one example - the cranks are pretty tough, it's the bearings that are 'consumable' items? Speculative guess work but it is going to be interesting to see what comes out of this, assuming Trish is allowed to say ....

Been following this thread avidly for obvious reason's and have to ask why would Honda not allow Bokkie to say what the fault is ? How could they stop her .

I think that may have more to do with the conditions of the offer they make or have yet to make. If you were Trish, you'd not want to jeopardise that until you were sure you had negotiated exactly what you wanted.

The way I read the thread was that Trish doesn't know what the parts are that are being changed on the engine but I agree that bearings are the most likely. Hopefully Trish can enlighten us

The way that reads HUK are using Jenson to limit their liability on the other enginer failures as well as drawing a line under Jenson
Time to move on me thinks

I read it differently, I read it that Honda will no longer be changing Full Short Blocks any more as they now know what the fault is and what parts exactly they need to replace rather than just throwing a complete short Block in. Of course if your engine blows and the bottom end is destroyed than I would expect them still to replace the Short Block but if they detect the symptoms of an impending failure early enough (light knoncking/rattling that we all have reported) then I'm guessing they know what part/parts needs replacing now before it neccessitates a new Short Block.

Just had a lengthy chat with Trish and suspect mine is heading same way - noise, rattle, vibration through clutch.

I have booked mine in with Bristol as they are the experts even though its a 650 mile round trip.

However HUK have advised Trish that I need to get local stealer to ring Slough and they will talk them through it. Think I would still feel more confident with Bristol.

Gaxxy - we have a suggestion. Name one of your service bays after Trish - Bokkies Bay

It's all very well saying it's time to move on but move on to what ?

I bought my car because I'd alway's wanted one and when the oppurtunity arose I did .

The Honda S2000 has been my dream car ( I'll never be able to afford a DB9 ) And was bought with the intention of never selling !

In 18 month's it has been 100 % reliable and every time I get in it I am still glad I got it .

What could replace an S2000 ?

There is nothing out there that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg .

If the engine problem's turn out to be cost cutting by Honda by sourcing and fitting cheap shell bearing's then I for one would like to know ,however
it,s unlikely that Honda will admit this .

On the other hand these thing's have a way of getting out .
