Guys - Just to be clear on the Honda Extended Guarantee, the £250/12 month offer did not end in March, Honda merely rationalised their Happiness product range and stopped advertising this was available.

Any dealer worth their salt can still offer you this deal (on cars 3-8 years as davey quite rightly says) and can do the same on 2 & 3 year policies as well. They can also be taken on direct debit over 10 months, so the 12 month policy is just beer money every month....

If one dealer will not do you a deal, just move on to the next one who actually has some financial acumen. The 2 & 3 year policies with AA breakdown cover can also be done for £250 per year (so £500 & £750 respectively) - if the dealer is foolish enough to turn away your business at those rates, more fool them....

Oh yes, and regarding the warranty, it will only last for the balance of the 3 years/90,000 miles. So if you have a part changed at 2 years 364 days, it will only carry 1 days warranty!

very good question, to which I do not know the answer (well it's a truthful answer)

I will find out, I know the answer I would like !
If the replacment engine is given a full 3 yr warranty that would indicate to me that Honda has confidence that it will not fail prematurely and therefore not incur any more cost to Honda

On the other hand , if it do's not have the full 3 yr's then there is a fault and will fail and Honda hope the original warranty will have expired before they incur more cost's

I can assure you it's not the tech's.

Even our guy's can't fit an engine that Honda can't supply...until it arrives!

(read the whole of the thread & inwardly digest)

God forbid you should ever require it, your are welcome to try the Bristol experience, you may well be suprised with service & liason a "stealer" can give you behind the scenes.
Gaxxy, my comments was meant in a light hearted manner, sorry if it did not appear so. Oh and I have worked in a Honda dealership up here in sunny Scotland during my motor trade career so have first hand experience, some good, some bad.

Martin, no problem, my response was mean't light heartedly.

I did gather you had worked in a dealership & knew how infuriating it can be at times.

It is down to each individual dealer to set their own price limits. However, the way the scheme is run, it is in their (our) best interests to try and get as many people into a policy as possible, even at discounted rates.

Some dealers will be more pro-active than others with this - however, it will be a case of speaking to them direct for their best quote and then playing off with another dealer. With the nature of franchising, some dealer groups may not budge on price - you may have to call a completely different part of the country to achieve the best results...

Got mine going back in on Wednesday as finally someone else heard the noise I keep hearing! Discussion yesterday at Garage R meeting was that perhaps it was heat shield or CAT rather than than engine.
