Right folks!

The S WILL be ordered this week.

Need some last minute advice....I know a similar sounding thread was posted recently, but......

I've got the advice for pre-delivery checks, etc in my arsenal.

But, what I wanna know is whether it is worth bargaining for little extras, eg mats, car covers etc, and whether anyone who has done this has had any success at the time of purchase. How far should I push it?

What specific questions should I ask about the '03 models (bearing in mind the slight problems here and there, eg wheel corrosion, etc on older models)?

Is it considered too cheeky to ask to watch the pre-delivery inspection and prep?

This and any other bits of advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

San.

If so, haggle!

When my parents bought a Civic EU8 (then recently launched), I asked for

I think this has been mentioned a couple of times, but it worked for me

I originally went in, spoke to the dealer and got a quote, which actually included the Honda OEM mats FOC.

I then went away and used ukcarbroker.co.uk to get a quote including the options I wanted (metallic paint, CD changer, etc), which I faxed through to the dealer before I went in again. (Carbroker quote a "plain" GT model for, I think,

On Right Car / Wrong Car recently, I think they managed to get a GT UK car for the price of a non-GT car + fuel & mats I believe.

San,

Push for everything you can get, then push a little bit harder. The guy you're talking to is a salesman, he already knows what he can and can't do, and he won't give anything away he's not prepared to so push for as much as you can.

The best bargaining position you can be in is to go in towards the end of a month, and offer to sign 'right now' if they agree to your demands for a CD changer etc. - They're more likely to give you extras than cash off because extras are overpriced so if you want a spoiler, ask them to throw it in and you'll shake their hand today...

And when you make your bid, say for a cd changer and

Hi

Mine was in the dealership in stock and despite going in at the end of the month I think I was more desparate to buy it than they were to sell it becuase it was one of the first yellow ones (and a GT) and there was currently a 4 month waiting list for that colour. In the end though I got a spoiler FOC, extra set of plates with proper spacing and not , RFL, full tank and knocked them down to a cracking interest rate. I was happy but on reflection I think they were happier with the deal

My advice though would be not look/act too eager and be prepared to walk away if they won't come down to your offer...Very difficult IMO

Pl x
