Intermittent Stalling any help appreciated
Hi All
My lovely S has recently started stalling intermittently, I thought it would be cured by a service so waited and unfortunately it hasn't.
Symptoms:
When driving under normal conditions the car is fine, pull up and she holds her idle at around 1K and is smooth.
Once you open her up a bit say a good hoof down 2 miles of A road vtecing all the way come off the A road and pull up and you can hear the car struggling to amintain its idle, almost like its choking, then it will stall at nearly every opportunity after a little while of not ragging the car and it drives ok again??
Any ideas, I wanted to narrow the field before I take her to the stealers for a look?
Thanks very much
Ron

Good luck with this Ron ,Ive had this problem for far to long now ,tried the Map whack ,tried resetting the Ecu,tried a couple of different dealers and all with no success so far
One of the dealers stated that they had never had this problem before with an S ,do you fancy joining force's and trying to get HUK to resolve this problem Ron
My thoughts on this is an electrical contact somewhere ,rather than a mechanical fault although I would love to be proved wrong

Hi mate
That doesnt sound very good! my brother suggested something called an airflow meter???
Ill do a search on map sensor and on ECU reset and see what I can find though
MRV, happy to join forces will speak to Brighton Honda tomorrow and see what they say.
Does anyone know any good specialist tuners or racers who use S2000's that might have a better idea than the stealers?

Unlikley to be the map sensor. Wrong symptoms. The ECU isn't using the map sensor for idle anyway.
Most likely candidates are wronlg set TPS, or sticking idle control valve. But without putting diagnostics on the car, it's hard to say. If you're happy spannering, worth removing the IACV and cleaning it with carb cleaner. If you have a voltmeter, you can check the TPS is right when closed.
Dealers are sadly normally rubbish with faults like this. They've nice flow charts to follow, but a lot of the options run into 'replace with known good', or just 'replace'. And that's when the fault with presents well... trully intermittend faults don't fit well with the flow charts.
