Default Insurance for young driver (23 year old)

S2000 has been my most favorite car (I mean MOST and it is over Zondas, Bugatti, Lambos etc etc) since it first launched 10 years ago
I always wanted to buy one but the insurance premium is just way way way too high for a young driver like me. last time I quoted was around 3 grand on insurance when I last check it half year ago

I am now 22 and planning to buy a S2000 next year if insurance premium is more reasonable. (Saving every penny at the moment!)

So heres a little info about me (when I can afford the car next year)
23 year old university student
0 NCB (got 1 year named driver NCB with elephant if that helps?)
3 years license, NO points (I am sure no points cause I am off to Japan next month for a year!)
living in quiet area in Cardiff

Car will be a UK car (if it helps to pull the insurance down) with no mods
I can add my girlfriend's name as named driver as she may have chances to use my car occasionally, but we will see if that makes a big difference

Has anyone got similar qualifications as me? How much did you pay for your insurance?
Or any insurance people on here could give me a rough idea of how much should I be expecting to pay? I am currently not in the country so I cannot call insurance companies for a quote sorry

I am currently driving a MX5 MK1, looking for a 'promotion' to a S2000

Anyone can help?

Become a member of S2KUK.com , and then you will be entitled to get benefits from lots of suppliers, including Insurance companies.

In addition, you can PM Chris Knott (under Traders), who may be able to advice further.

Good Luck !

Clement87, I'm not sure things will have changed much or at all for the better in the 6 months since you checked the likely cost. Have you tried comparing the meerkats?

Cheers for the advise

1700quid is JUST within my budget, I am looking for, ideally, 1300ish. However as it has been my dream owning a S2000 I can stretch myself (beer token exchange for cash?) to the 1700-1800 mark the very highest

Hopefully I can find some companies who will insure me under 1500quid

If I can find an affordable insurance, I will surely join the S2K club as there will be a lot of discounts available and meet some like minded people. I am now in MX5OC and it is really helpful

I will try PM Chris and see if he can give me any further advice, cheers
