Insurance question
I find out about my damaged car a bit later today. Insurance company has appointed a independent engineer to go and assess it, and either ok the work or write it off I guess if the repairs are going to cost to much. Which leads to my question:
If they write it off - what happens to my existing insurance policy against the S? If I then go and get another one, do I have to renegotiate for insurance as if it's a new policy, and hence have my recent claim taken into account or what happens?
This is all hypothetical at the moment. Hopefully they'll approve the work and I'll have my one back in a few weeks. :Edcrossesfingers:
Cheers, Ed.

Ed,
I seem to remember reading a policy booklet which said that if there is a claim that results in a total loss (ie a write off) then after they have paid out, the policy is considered null and void.
So if it's written off, they send you a cheque and the policy is ended. So you would have to get a new policy when you get another S, and you would have to tell them about the claim.
Not all insurance companies will necessarily have the same policy on this, it's worth digging out your policy booklet and having a read through or contacting your insurer.
Hope this helps,
Si
