insurance for new wheels

I imagine they justify the hike on the bases that (a) it makes the car inherently more attractive to thieves and (b) they are underwriting the potential cost of having to replace them in the event of theft (assuming of course that your policy does provide for that - I know not all insurers do).

In terms of the admin fee, Tesco recently charged me

Calm down fellas!! Insurance Companies don't just "slap on" an increase because some little office boy wants to justify a raise!

It is all done with statistics and those other well known elements, probability and chance. You can bet your bottom dollar that they will be able to justify differing premiums if they were called upon to do so.

Try the Insurance Ombudsaman, see what he has to say.
