I'm going the the age record on this forum, 57

NIG (Bank of Scotland) "Gold" package via Adrian Flux:
421 with 300 excess, 75 glass excess
3000 miles including up to 500 business
Legal cover 50000
Lost keys cover
Other usual bits and bobs
Park on drive
Couple of "no fault" accidents in 04 and 05 (including one Mr Gerald Ratner)

Even though my S has never let me down I actually went for the "Platinum" package which is as above but also includes breakdown cover for 52.

Cover just expiring with Swiftcover at 428, 250 excess, no breakdown cover. Renewal for 478 (50!! hike) wanted. So, now paying same as last year but incl breakdown.

Hey guys,

Im currently looking to get my S2000 insured. I last insured an S2000 about a year ago at a rate of £1200 with a £350 excess. That was with Sky back when I was 23. Now Im 24, 25 in only three months and Sky will not insure me. They have changed their policy to over 25s only.

The best quote Ive had is with Adrian Flux. This is for £1140 but there are a few things that really bother me about this policy.

If I was 25 at the time of taking the policy out, I would automatically get cover on any other car third party fire and theft, and the excess would only be £300. If I take the policy out now, even though Im 25 in 3 months I wont be able to get either of these benefits for the entire duration of the policy. They cannot be added on

Now Im in the situation of paying for this premium to drive the car over winter, or having to store the car until January to drive it

What should I do?!?!?

Adam

AAAHhhhhhhhhhh The advantages of being ancient.....older even than "Stufix", 64 at time of insuring for current year.

Policy renewal with AVIVA , Comprehensive cover with Courtesy car.
250 excess, two named drivers, 5ooo miles ayear.
Extra 49 for recovery.
Renewed at £315.29 SORTED> (no idea where the 29pence came from)

Try Chris Knott?
Are short term policies available - ask them what the cost would be to amend the policy in 3m time to get a better result.
Garage it for 3m? (Winter's coming!)
Get it insured under an older person's details with you as a named driver for 3m? (unsure of legality....)

Cornpot,

Perhaps we should start an over 50s section, "s2old".

All meets to finish by 9pm and any trips not to be further than a couple of miles from a convenience.

Might be a small section although we'd probably get a pensioner's rate on the annual subs.

Stufix, jsh,

Probably more of us than one would think tho perhaps wouldn't admit it on the forum!

I'll certainly go for a 50% reduction in fees.

At my age you learn never to be far from a loo, and never to trust a fart I think my services cost more for me than they do for the car....if only I'd been built by Honda!
