My insurance is due soon so have been on the usual site's getting quote's and have been mildly surprised by the low price's coming up ( compared to last year anyway ).

Presently with LV but an online quote from them was £ 50 cheaper than their posted renewal .

When I phoned them to get the price matched I got the shock of my life when I was told that I would not be covered for theft of my car unless I had a tracker fitted and that I had been driving for the last year without cover for theft due to this policy .

Nowhere on my policy do'es it state any thing about having a tracker fitted or not being covered for theft without one .

Fortunately Churchill was cheaper @ £255 and don't want a tracker .

Has anybody any experience of insurance company's and tracker's ?

Is it common practice to drop theft cover without telling anybody ?

Is anybody else with LV .

Has anyone tried Carole Nash for a quote to see how they compare?

Hi,
Just a quick outcome for my insurance renewal. I was with Admiral when I bought the car and their renew was about £860. After a quick call it dropped to £740... I did not need to talk much :-)
Checking comparethemarket, gocompare and confused dot com brought up best quotes in the region of £700. There was one company though who quoted me and the car at a surprising £400!
In the meantime I also tried Adrian Flux but their quote was frankly shocking (£2k).
I did some research and found that I may have hard time in case I have to make a claim with them but decided to use them. The company is swiftcover. There are limitations such as they don't do cars with any modification but I haven't got intention to modify anyway...
Some details according to the insurance:
34 yrs old, 17 yrs old driving licence, 5 yrs protected NCB, legal cover, personal injury cover, UK resident for 5 yrs, 6k miles per yr, parking on the street (my only option...), business cover (!!!), Poole, Dorset postcode, family, 2 cars in the household...
So my lesson in this is that don't be lazy to do the homework! (And read the small print as well)
I hope that my case helps at least one person here...
Enjoy your VTEC devils all day and night!
Imre

Likewise mine has dropped £200 this year as a renewal and like for like policy.

I also was with LV for my BMW 335d, and had checked with them about switching to an s2k - apparently all no problems. Once i picked up the new car and rang them to confirm i had switched is when they told me they would need a tracker in order to insure me. I was a bit annoyed and told them to cancel it and went elsewhere.

I was insured , just not covered for theft without a tracker .

I've never heard of a comprehensive policiy that dos'nt include theft .

I'm 26 and my R32 GTR is insured with Sky (~500bhp) and costs me about £600-700ish to insure iirc.

S2000 is going to be bit more than my BMW to insure but cost me around £800 to insure my old one a few years ago so would expect cheaper now
