shows you how informed that company is if they are quoting group 23, steer clear of that one!!
Some maintain their own groupings/classifications.

all these quotes about insurance prices mean nothing without a location though, could have one quote in one village and you move 10 miles it could be double that.

I've just got mine with Flux, £850 full comp with only 200 quid excess...

Nearly 50, 10+ years no claims (actually, have never made a claim), live in GL56 where the last recorded crime was someone interfering with a sheep 10 years ago, car garaged.

Was with Premier at £400 but on renewal got a straight decline from them because I've put '06 17" OEM S2K wheel on my MY02. I feel quite the hooligan.

Gone with service underwriting instead at £400 for unlimited mile Social, Domestic and Commuting.

£10 cheaper than Adrian Flux, who i would have gone with if they hadn't added £20 for the wheels.

Sky were £450.

I can't believe some of the quotes considering ages...

I'm 26, 5 years NCB, £300 excess, comprehensive cover, via Admiral, in Plymouth postcode, 8,000 annual mileage, cover to drive any other fully insured car with owners consent, kept in driveway, social and domestic with commuting, no other additional benefits such as legal cover etc.

Almost forgot to mention, i've added my dad as an additional driver and it reduced my quote by about £80

insurance excess question:

I used an excess figure of £250 in the meerkat search engine and all insurance quotes add another compulsory charge of minimum of another £250 giving me at least an excess of £500.

Now, if I drop my personal excess down to £0 then I get a revised compulsory excess of £350 with a reduced premium. WTF is this all about?

Also, has anyone heard of Hastings Direct? They do seem rather cheap.

Most insurers have a compulsory excess for theft/damage and this may vary depending on driver's age or indeed the type of car. (Admiral have higher compulsory excesses for young drivers and inexperienced drivers, for example). you then have the opportunity to take on a voluntary excess on top of this. As this reduces any payments made by insurers, as well as the point at which you'd make a claim, they charge you a lower premium. As for the discrepancy, who knows?

Hastings Direct have been around a long time in one form or another. They were originally set up by some people who started Admiral.

Hi all,

Well I just insured my car through Sky (specifically Alex) & I must admit I'm not usually the person to publicly give praise for these kinds of things -

However,

Alex was very helpful, I got a great price & so far so good.

Out of all the other usual companies I tried Adrian Flux, Chris Knott (who wouldn't insure me as under 30?), all the comparison sites (be careful of combined excesses) & pretty much most other people I could think of & Sky were the best - plus the fact they are aware of the forum, I couldn't find any horror stories & obviously new the car - I went for it.

So day 1 of Sky insurance starts this Sunday.

Cheers Alex & indeed Sky.

SORRY BUT!!!!

Just got this years insurance - £247.71, 55 year old git, no points, no mods, protected NCB, uninsured driver cover, etc. £350 excess. With Hastings, through MoneySupermarket.com.

Attempted to try Adrian Flux, they quoted £1055.
Tryed Sky they didn't answer the phone and after putting all the usual stuff in for a quote the web site fell down on the last (7th) page.

I was that impressed with the cost I added key cover as well (£15).

9 years no claims unprotected
No convictions
No Accidents

Through Zenith
£500 Compulsory Excess

I have the Silver insured with them through Highway for about £700.

Phoned Sky up....

All the same things like European cover, courtesy car etc...
With Chaucer.

I called CK, and they said go with Sky!
