29, about to turn 30 (I did some quotes as though I was 30 to see if it was worth waiting a few months before buying the car and the premium didn't change a penny)
Zero NCB as I haven't driven for four years as I'm living in central london and my NCB expired grr
I have declared mods of air filter, lowering and exhaust, 5000 miles a year and it came to a touch over £1000 fully comp!
I thought I had no chance of a nice car after finding my NCB had expired, I didn't realise it did that.
Car is insured in the countryside though at my parents as it is a weekend toy. To insure it in London they wanted a £3000 excess on a standard car or a premium of £4500 with the above mods!
I went with Elephant as the specialist firms wouldn't touch me.
Very happy.

Will the car always reside at your parents address (ie never at your London address)?

Adrian Flux have just quoted me £845 a year (Equity Red Star) for a 2008 GT. Excess is a compulsory £1500!
56 years old, wife is 50. Mid-Somerset postcode. Although I can provide evidence of no claims for the last 18 years or so in the UK, Canada and Switzerland, and no convictions, the issue seems to be that I now have Swiss licence. As an EU national working and living in Switzerland, you have to surrender your EU licence for a Swiss one after 12 months.
The Swiss licence bit isn’t a problem for the insurers (NFU) on our other car, a Grand Cherokee Platinum 4.7L H.O., but I doubt they will insure a car like the S2000. They insure all our other smallholding requirements so the Jeep kind of falls within their field (pun intended) of expertise.
At least I can take advantage of the Honda Approved Used Car free insurance for a week when I buy one, while I shop around.

I think after speaking to several insurers and brokers recently, its evident that they are becoming FAR more focused on the postcode, AND mileage, especially on such a tail-happy car as this. So for me, as a daily runner doing 10k a year, my quotes are far more than I expected. Garaging my car overnight doesn't change the quotes I've had either.. despite this being locked. Plus its impossible to break in as we have a double locked Porch, and don't hook keys in view. Irritating how insurers think you'll be lax about security of your premises. It's hardly a Ferrari!
Back again in a month with some more ridiculous quotes.. and eventually the one I will have to accept for my forthcoming ownership of an S. £1000 is my max, currently we are teetering around that.

I took out a policy with Adrian Flux very recently and, unfortunately, seems like they are trying to fleece me big time. Beware when dealing with them!
In short, gave them all the details, paid my 600 premium and all was well, car insured with Groupama. As part of the documents they required where the usual NCB letter from previous insurer and, a new one for me, a picture of my car in the garage showing the licence plate. No prob, sent this through. Then comes a further request for information on the garage with a specific questionaire, sounding a bit odd but ok, filled that in as well and sent off.
Next thing I know they send a letter saying that they cannot accept the risk of a car being kept in a underground garage and they will therefore cancel my policy and effectively charge me 205 for this (by means of a 395 refund)! Seems crazy to me, plus, I had already disclosed the garaging conditions at the quotation stage (underground garage away from home).
Can they do this? Sounds almost a scam to me. I am currently drafting a formal complaint letter and will fight this to the end, any advice welcome though.
And to think they come recomended by the S2000 UK club too

Sky Insurance = £690 renewal, bargain!
Called up A-Plan, Chris Knott & Adrian Flux, all are coming in at around the £3k mark. What on earth is going on?
I'm 31/32 soon, car parked on driveway, 9 years NCB, 5000-6000 miles a year living in South London. It isn't as though this is my first performance car or RWD car so i'm a tad confused as to why i'm receiving such bonkers quotations.
Think i shall be staying with Sky for the forceable future.

Sky were really good, £300 cheaper than what I'd found on comparison sites, excess £950 less than my cheapest quote elsewhere, and the lad I spoke to knew his cars and even recommended I speak to jerrick about getting some miester r coilovers.
Highly recommended.

Ok, I am new here, but heed my words:
I am 45, been a good boy (- no crashes or flashes in recent years) S2000 GT 100 2009 worth say £20k.
Only 5000 miles a year.
£395 from 'Need to Insure' brokers policy with 'Competition Car insurance', even allows crashy wife, 30 days in Europe and up to 5 track days a year included (£350 excess).
Bargain!
