Default Insurance

that time has come to be bent over and give insurance company some money..

currently insured with CK - renewal of £1210 (last year was £1130). so i thought screw that - it's gone up.
Rang the other S2ki friendly company - SKY and got a 'buy it now' quote of £1020 (+£20 admin cost). if i was to put the phone down and got CK to match, it would of been £1109 even if i rang back within the hour.

so i went with it. looks like insurance is going up from the beginning of october so im glad i rang when i did!

im pretty happy despite being 'forced' into it. anything below 1k and i would of been very happy with. £1020 was near enough.
15 minute phone call and a very painless experience, SKY have my money and im insured for the next 12months

details:
27yo male, 7yr p-ncb FC, home owner, private shared car park, Coventry, and CAI. 1 claim, 1 speeding.

Question?
How can you have 7 years no claims if you have had a claim.

I know you say it's protected, but I thought that only counted with the company you were insured with and you can't transfer a protected no claims.

i was on the impression it 'froze'
ie: you started with 7yrs, you have a ding, and you come out with 7yrs.

anyway, the guy was quite happy to enter in '7 years' despite knowing about my accident in 2007.

Crikey! Over a grand!? Try swiftcover I've got mine insured with them for £630.
My details - 26 Male, 6 years NCB, no points, one claim (for £9000 - RIP R1).

I also managed to get my Prelude insured with More Than for £320 (but that is TPF&T and with no NCB).

I'd check that you still have your NCB with your previous insurers as your new one will probably want to see confirmation of it.
