Huge apols for being a complete numpty, but Dawn's earlier post has reminded me to expose myself as an eejit.
Here goes...
What exactly does protecting a no claims bonus do??
I had 6 years protected no claims until some pleasant local hoofed the side of my car in (lovely boot print in centre of caved-in door ). ...and then I was victim of a hit and run a month later
I was (obviously wrongly) under the impression that by protecting my NCB, my premium would not be hugely affected (I had to make 2 x no-fault claims). By reading the T&C, I thought I could make 2 no-fault claims without affecting my NCB.
But lo and behold, when I renewed, my premium skyrocketed
When I enquired further (via my insurer Adrian Flux) was told that yes, although I had protected my NCB, my premium would increase, but only for 2 years, when it would once again return to the level that one might expect with 6 yrs NCB.
Is this correct, or
Any comments/abuse welcome.... just a bit nervous as the 2 years will be up at next renewal and I'm sick of paying

[QUOTE=DawnLang,Oct 11 2007, 06:57 AM] So far my best quote's been with Sainsbury's and it's due in the next month or so.
Will give those chaps a go as well.
My insurance seems to be extortionate - mainly due to an uninsured driver who hit me last year. Thankfully NCB protected but had to claim off my own insurance which has buggered my premiums since!
33 years old with 12 years NCB but still being quoted over

Thanks for the information. I'm looking for insurance at the moment for next month.
I'm 28, have SP60 (over 3 years ago) and SP30 (3 years ago next Feb).
The car is parked on a private driveway and does 6k miles per year with intake and aftermarket alloys fitted. I have 9 years no claims.
My cheapest quote so far is Elephant at

I'm looking to insure one in the near future, I just checked my old insurance and they had given me 7 years no claims... Strange as I've been with Admiral for about 12 years if not longer and never had a claim.
I phoned them up and they're sending the docs out. I'm not sure what the max NCB is but I wonder if that's a bit of a sneaky one on their part to make it more diffifcult or less likely to change insurer.

[QUOTE=s2ook,Oct 11 2007, 11:29 PM] I'm hoping Sky will be able to do a bit better and i've heard that Adrian Flux are more competitive after 1+ year ownership.
I'd be happy with
