How about insuring it for the odd short period? Like a long weekend or something.

There's a well know accident hump for male mortality aged 17-23.

Yeah, and i've said that in my post. I wonder how many 17-23 yr olds die in S2000's compared to 35 yr olds? I dont know but I reckon the amount of 17-23yr olds dieing, as a percentage, in S2000s is lower than the national average. Insurance companies are bound to know this, but they wont use it because the general statistic represents an oppertunity to get more premium. TBH, I dont understand how insurance companies can get away with it. Its the most blatant display of ageism I have ever seen.....

Its probably lower as a % in S2000's as younger guys (and girls?) can't afford to insure them

And how many 17 - 23 owners die as a percentage of 17 - 23 owners of S's.

After the thread in the US siude of the board for YKW, I find this morbid discussion a little bad taste TBH.

I don't like insurance companies anymore than anyone else, but.....

I'm a Banker (you can punish me for that later! ) but the way I always see it, if I wouldn't lend my money on a project, then I'm damn sure I'm not going to lend the bank's money.

Same if you're an insurer - you're not going to take on someone elses risk (i.e. underwrite their behaviour on the road) unless you can be relatively sure you're not going to pay out. And backed up with data, you can see exactly why insurance companies charge a shed load for young (especially male) drivers. I would if it were my knackers on the line!!!
