The insurance companies really hammer young drivers these days. I can (just) remember having an Astra GTE 16v when I was 25 and the insurance not being that bad despite group 16 and the very high incidence of theft at the time.
Those were the days.
Mind you it had no doorlocks, cat1 alarm/immob, a mul-t-lock on the gear stick and I never parked it anywhere dodgy...

when I was younger - it was admiral, bell, elephant and tesco that I went between for the best deal now with privelege, but you need to have 4 years ncb
I'm currently waiting for a settlement from Elephant and it's taking ages, though apparently they're waiting for paperwork from the DVLA Other than that they haven't been too bad to deal with.

I'm relatively young - just turned 27. Admiral Group have been the best for me over the last 5 year since owning and insuring my own cars. Last year I ended up with Norwich Union on my Celica (Grp 15) as they were

Not by any stretch of the imagination trying to pretend to be an old man here, but I remember quite a few times when I was driving my first car - a 'w' Fiesta Zetec-S where I pushed things either through lack of concentration or because I was hamming it up a bit.....
Result was some unpleasant looking driving, a bit of a squitty tummy and drive off into the sunset. That's despite me, on the whole, being a fairly careful and sensible guy.
I know that if I was to have pulled the same tricks/mistakes with the 'S' - it'd have been in a hedge and left me in hospital.
Unfortunately, the fact is - we all make mistakes, but we make more of them when we're younger. Best thing I've found is to work my way up through progressively faster / more powerful cars that are perhaps more forgiving to mistakes........only now do I feel I'm totally ready to take on the 'S'.
Having said that - I still haven't properly pushed it yet..........I know one day it will bite!!
