to be honest that was a few years ago now....all that bothers me is money, money and more money. I aint in IT for the pleasure of it, just the money

It's because they want to sell cars in huge quantities that they'll end up with the same image problem Ford has, solved for them by buying Jaguar, Volvo and Aston.
Mind you, now Porsche do a Land Rover lookalike, they can hardly be called 'aspirational'

Bear in mind though, that the Porsche "Land Rover lookalike" that you mention will stay with a S2K on the straight and round the twisties, while carrying 4 people in luxury!

I don't see why a Z4 shouldn't be compared to a Boxster. It looks good. The performance is good and I've little doubt despite not having driven one that it will handle well. In due course an M version will come out which will eat a Boxster S for breakfast.
