Instant Karma - fined for number plate
After my ranting on the other thread recently, I went out this morning and got pulled for illegal spacing on the plate.
After a little chat, he admitted they were now pulling everyone for this as it's an easy £100.
He seemed less concerned about the 3/4 plate on the front, just the spacing. Unfortunately my attempts at talking my way out of it failed and my wallet is now a ton lighter.
Be warned.

This is probably due to the impending 'No tax disk' display that is coming in October - if your plate can't be read by the machines/cameras then it can't be determined if you have taxed your vehicle or not, I suspect that is why they are focusing on the spacing as opposed to the size. Just a thought.

Yes they are firmly and consistently. Apparently the spacing meant it couldn't be read by their machine, which must be a bit crap, but would have got pulled soon anyway. The tax disc definitely is playing a part in the 'I've had this illegal plate for ages, why are you only pulling me now' conversation

Security? How is moving a space on a otherwise legal numberplate make a difference? I'm pretty sure I heard that the DVLA was going to start relaxing the spacing on plates - chavs taking the piss putting screws everywhere to spell out their name is ridiculous, but moving a space and not butchering the plate in any way I can't see how a machine can fail to read it ?
