Excellent writeup Andy.
Did you consider fitting the PDA to the RHS A-Pillar ? This is something that I am considering at the moment, although I haven't found a suitable mount as yet.

Nice one - I have a H2210 which I'll be fitting more permanently at some point also.
How much was the Carcomm cradle - brodit do a powered one, but it is very expensive, c

Another alternative for anyone that is still considering what to get...... Tom Tom GO...... no wires required and mounted with Velcro:

My problem is I really need both vents to function - to keep my hands warm in winter, and the cold air to keep me alert when the roof is up.
Can you get sticky stuff that leaves no mark on the vinyl dash, yet is secure enough to hold a PDA (while I attempt Ari Vatenen impressions on bumpy B-roads ) ?

) ?My TomTomGO is now mounted with it and its never come unstuck even on really rough roads.
Main problem with Dual Lock is that its REALLY difficult to buy

I also think that it would block your line of sight a little, so I opted for the centre position but as low down as possible so as not to get in the way, but still be easy to read without diverting your eyes too much.
