Default Installed a Motorised DVD/TV in the S

I received a visual X DVD 7501 (7 inch motorised flip screen DVD TV system) as a gift. I knew the insatllation would cause problems due to the distance between the gearstick and the fascia din.

Nevertheless, I gave it a go. Guess what happened..... You probably already guessed correctly. The whole system fitted very easily all wires and boxes fitted perfectly.
But...... as anticipated earlier the screen got trapped!!!! Trapped between the din and the gearstick.

As the screen is 7 inches; the space between the din and the gearstick would have to be > 7 inches. The screen comes out straight and then goes up 'as quick as our soft top' and it looks good too!!!

Instead, I fitted it in my CTR.

I was wondering has anyone successfully fitted a DVD player in the S. Either motorised screen or detachable screen (excuse the labelling).
Cheers...

I think that the prefered route is to obtain a DVD facsia from Japan, cut a suitable hole into the dash & hey presto.

Yeah, the "roll" of the dash stops it too, if you'd got passed the gearstick,

I always fancied an install like this, that looks just like the Jap OEM install.

i had this problem.

i owned an alpine touch screen, and had to sell it, it was only 6 moths old

didnt even think about it until i got the car home,

decided i should spend more time with my eyes on the road in the S

a screen would be nice though

i was going to do this with my old S but i decided against it, i only wanted to do it for the hell of it, i get an enjoyment out of finding out if it will work but the dash cut out surround was bloody hard to get hold of and the screen would have need to be a alpine 6.5 inch one which is also rather hard to source to do everything i wanted it to do.

The other reason was after my car was hit i wanted rid of it, i will be leaving the next S standard as it was intended to be in the first place.

the car is for driving not for watching a dvd or sat nav who needs it in that car, you dont need to know where you are going or plan a route.

If it's a daily driver you might.

I've found Tomtom on my PDA utterly invaluable in the past 6 months.

What particularly are you objecting to Pete, the inclusion of a screen? I prefer that kind of OEM look install to my PDA sat on a goose neck mount suckered to the windscreen to be honest.

Sure, I take the car out for "drives" around areas I know and I'm only looking at the roads, but for gettng to new places etc, satnav is an absolute boon.
