Totally not correct to have an ER300 on with an RE050. The Potenza is a much higher performance tyre, ER300 is a touring tyre that would be more suited to a BMW estate or similar.
Even if they were fitted in a pair I would still recommend taking them off but certainly if you have two different tyres on an axle.
The person you bought the tyre from will no doubt try and tell you the opposite, in which case get him to call Bridgestone Technical for the correct advice (which will be the same as above)
Edit: The Bridgestone telephone number is (0)1926 48 85 00 if you need it.

im on my second set on the S.
they may not have the "performance" of top end tyres the likes of eagle F1's, but from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE i've found them almost indistingishable from the RE050's for road use.
and yes, you should always have a matched pair on the car.

Personally I would but be prepared for a lot of hassle doing it. Last time I tried this (for a friend with another S2000 - similar tyre issue) the tyre fitter initially refused, then said they had spoken to Bridgestone and they had said it was ok (they hadnt). Only after a pretty heated row over the phone did they end up changing it for my friend.
Hopefully they will change it for you but a lot of tyre dealers really dont understand the need for matching tyres on performance vehicles (as they spend 95% of the time doing Fiestas etc) and therefore will argue the toss.
Good luck.

Interesting. I just had 4 brand new reo050's put onto my s at a cost of £470 including fitting and they tested the tracking too. Tracking came back as well out (partially cus I upgraded to 17"'s as well I suspect). However the cost to Fix it all including 4 failures in the tracking and camber was £90! Got to say I'm happy with that. I have the printout at home if anyone wants me to scan it in.
Does having the camber and tracking done mean I've had the geo done?

IIRC Wheels In Motion did a nice topic on the differences in services.

A proper geo gets all 4 wheels pointing in the right direction with the right camber in relation to each other.
Most tracking places only do the front wheels.
There’s more to it than that though, I’m sure someone else will give lots more details about castor and camber.
