You are claiming hypothesis as fact. We accountants are good at spotting that.

The engine was a low-production volume design and the tooling wear rates would be extended accordingly; the BMC B-series tooling WAS knackered & they used fag papers to true it up. That was when it was 40 years old and the anecdote is documented.

Unless you have prima facie evidence that the machine tools at Suzaka were worn (especially since in flexible manufacture, they could well be producing parts for several engines) you might as well say god done it.
As I said I was informed by a specialist. What do accountants know about engineering? Nuff said
As an engineer with just a little experience of modern precision machining, i agree with Nick.

The machine tools used in the manufacture of this engine will not have been dedicated to this engine. The volumes made don't justify it.

Car manufacturers have spent billions on SPC and similar measuring systems to constantly monitor what they are producing a prevent defects from developing.

They'll most likely be a tolerance or material issue causing these faults, but it won't be worn machine tools.

Whoever told you it was is still living in the 70's,

it was "fluffyninja" who first mentioned re-tooling a long time ago when the first few engines failed

who is, if I recall correctly, an engineer with a fair amount of experience

so, it seems the engineers and others are choosing to disagree and argue a pointless argument

to be honest I doubt we will ever know what the cause of the failures is but at this time nothing can be discounted

Not really; Ben would have said "possibly" or "likely" and not made a categorical statement.

There's a world of difference.

Of course, the resort to ad-hominem attacks when challenged is invariably a dead giveaway...

Yes Nick that's what he said because nobody (on here at least) knows

Jeez, you could start an argument in an empty house
