Information for 09 owners

I'd second this viewpoint Ian, you have said you have a good relationship with Honda and at the end of the day you are the only one with those contacts, therefore you are the best spokesman. I don't think it matters that you can't see the process through so long as you get the ball rolling. Then you can inform everyone you have passed it onto your deputy at the correct time - which is hopefully someone who volunteers - such as Mayhem.
This has reminded me I've forgotten to renew.. to be sorted ASAP ! LOL!

If you have protected comprehensive insurance, I would just park my 09 on the nearest beach, and forget about the incoming tide.
Then buy a nice, well maintained older one.
Seriously.

With some of the latest cars having crankshaft thrust washers replaced I wonder if this will solve the problem, hopefully it will
However, you have to wonder whether it has been the washers themselves at fault or if the washers have been wearing as a result of something else
From memory (and a hazy one at that) crankshaft thrustwashers are (or were) made of softer material than the crank itself, so they will wear faster; ie if something else isn't aligned properly this could be the result of and not the cause of a failure
The only people with the answers will be the Honda engineers who have investigated the issue at Honda HQ

As one of the more unfortunates (09 model done 12k miles and now on its third engine) I for one would be very interested to have HUK acknowledge an issue here and would happily share my experiences. Had a service at the franchise a few weeks ago and discussed the 'noise' currently made by the engine. Their view was that this engine still sounds OK (its done 6k miles). I am a little more sceptical. I reckon this one is on its way too. I have about a year left on the warranty so if it goes .. I want to be sure it goes soon. By the way, I understand that the two engines previously removed from my car are still in boxes at the rear of teh franchise. Its been said before - I suspect that HUK know what the issue is, thats why they havent called for the engines back.

Longpig - wht dont you drop Steve.Dyer (firstname.secondname@honda-eu.com) at HUK an email and ask him to comment? May also be worth CCing in Matt.Gibson (Steve's Boss) It may jog Steve's memory that the next time an 09 owner contacts him it isn't the first time he has heard of this issue.
Putting aside the S2KUK contacting HUK question - concerned 09 owners may actually get a better reponse if they went to HUK on their own but shared via PM or private email the HUK reponse. I would be happy to coordinate email lists?
Just a thought......
