Right this better bloody have worked! Please consider that it was done on a wet road whilst raining and on a HTC phone (that's the disclaimer over and done with )
There is a lot of road noise but I don't think you can fail to hear the whine. It's consistent at 33mph and about 3k then it drops off as you speed up. It returns about 45 and then again at 59 in 5 or 6th gear.

Reading between the lines of Aquila's response from HUK I'd say they are being very careful not to jump the gun and start replacing engines willy nilly for the sake of it (after all a new engine isn't cheap!). It may be that only certain units/transmissions are affected?
Just drive them until they start to get significantly bad and Honda will sort. Some defects need a fair amount use before they become a real issue/noticeable.
Frustrating I know but trust me Honda aint going to start fitting F20C motors to anyone with a tiny squeak or rattle

I'm sorry but I still have issue's with this " Honda UK will only deal with this on an individual basis " !!
If one engine has a fault with substandard part's or a manufacturing fault i.e. poor milling or whatever then surely all later engine's will develop this fault ??
The whole point is to get Honda to find out what is going wrong and come up with a fix for all not just for those who have identified a problem ! What about those who do a low mileage or those who drive on blissfully unaware that there engine is making strange noises ?
I cannot see that this problem is limited to only a few later car's .
Regard's
John .

tailhappy, no offence, but have you actually read this thread ?
many engines failures, failed replacement engines, owners with LOUD noise issues which probably will lead to engine failure being fobbed off by dealers (I have heard the cars)
lack of action by Honda and owners stuck with issues and no fix
that is without mentioning the politics at Honda at the cost to rectify the issues on a model which is obsolete and will not make them any money

Taking it through the courts is another matter.
One for the owners to discuss with a damned good lawyer.
My CSI Slough Junction 5 hat says... class action law suit - 1 lawyer representing as many affected owners as possible is the best route.
But that is just me watching too much telly.
But something that should be looked into. ( just because HUK say they are coming to the table should not mean everyone else navel gazes. )
