Induction kit location
Howdy guys,
So my S2000 has a K&N next gen induction kit fitted witht the cold air box trying to reflect heat from the engine.
It would seem my previous experience with cars is a real good place for cold air is indeed not the engine bay but the inner wing.
Looking at the engine bay there is very little feed for cold air to reach the K&N
what have you guys all done? will it not make much difference on these engines?
cheers
Ross

If you want to get as little heatsoak as possible, refit the OEM air box or fit an AEM long intake. A quick blip of the throttle before pulling away clears any hot air in the intake and as for heatsoak on the move, not an issue due to the volume of air moving through the engine bay.

As above - Long arm cold air intakes work better.
I have a fujita F5. the filter sits in the bumper.
I have no heatsoak whatsoever. Being stuck yesterday on the M1 for a good hour with roasting hot temperatures (high 20's) and the car was fine. I also don't have any problems with hydrolock.
Fitted in my engine bay:

I had to wait 8 months for my Fujita F5 to come from the states, you're probably better getting the AEM one if you
are in a hurry.

I've had a K&N FIPK fitted for nearly two and a half years and never had a problem with heat soak. Some time ago someone built up a box out of insulated foam board and posted the results herte. Not the prettiest thing but seemed to do the job the dude wanted.

I'm about to fit a k&n gen II next weekend and I'm considering covering the outside of the box and the pipe with heat reflective tape. Is this a pointless activity as the rising heat will swell to the bonnet and get sucked in anyway?
