On the subject of speed cameras - I have never seen any statistics on how many accidents the cameras cause as people slam on their brakes when they see them at the last minute.

The met police admitted that this did cause a lot of accidents in London but didn't have any stats.

I once witnesed a bad accident at Brent Cross as a result of this

[1] Best thing he ever did was exempt bikes from the charge
Getting more poeple on bikes is good for congestion, but what has it done to the KSI figures? (Killed or Seriously Injured)

I have nothing against true bikers, but it's gotta be in the blood.

The thought of all those Jemima Puddleducks (Little girl in massively oversized lid, wearing sandals or such) on a silly scooter, or podgy middle-aged trendy businessmen thinking they're the next Foggy after two hours on a 600, makes me shudder.

That's democracy for you!

Obviously, Britain is a nation of shitheads.
I'm not sure if it is populated exclusively by such, but it is definitely run by them

The gist of this is despite a 100% increase in the number of tickets issued in Lothian last year
Road deaths were up 15%

1.8 m raised in a year and the have the barefaced cheek to continue to bang on that this about road saftey and reducing speed reduces the number of Deaths.

If that is the case then clearly increasing Cameras is ineffective.

I hate this place!
Look on the bright side, both you and I live but a short trip from the Trossachs and the joys of the Dukes Pass. I've only seen a speed trap up there once - north of Callender

one on the M9 today and a mercedes 4x4 off queensferry road again today.

It's like running a gauntlet, they must be desperate for cash, is Edinburgh council in trouble at the mo?

It's really difficult to watch other traffic and watch for speed traps and watch your speedo all the time.

If I slip up a couple of times Dukes pass is out of the question..
