Well the date went very well despite my cars best efforts to foil it.
So I went into work today, on a day off, armed with the keyfob and a brand new battery of the correct type, and still nothing, the light on the fob works but when I go to press it, nothing happens in the car.
I rang Honda and they said that opening the car with the key should switch the alarm and immob off, but I tried this a few times last night and didnt have any joy, they said they can take a look at it but it will cost

I recently had a very similar experience to you mate, had to get the car towed in (on a flat-bed) to , eventually, get the alarm circuit board replaced. If you're pretty handy with a spanner/confident working on your car, buy a replacement board from Hamilton & Palmer (about 130 quid) and fit it yourself. All you need to do is take out your driver's seat, remove the lid from a metal box and replace the (probable) fried board.
The purchase alone would be cheaper than Honda's quoted price. H&P also send you reprogramming instructions and a new fob!! Bargain.
Most people recommend getting the alarm swapped, although I didn't know that at the time. I paid Honda 300 quid for the privilege

Thanks for that info, I'll have a look at it tomorrow, if its just dry joints or a visibly burned out component on the board I should be able to sort it tomorrow, fingers crossed

You won't be able to just rip it out, cat 1 alarms are 3 point systems, ignition, fuel pump and starter. Ripping it out will not disable the fact that these three points are still immobilised.
There are mobile alarm fitters that come out to do alarm installations. I used one on my supra. Bloody brilliant deal. Cobra cat one alarm with global closing fitted

I've just removed the imobilisation circuits on mine as the same thing happened with the alarm giving up on me.
The thread with rough details of what I did is here https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry14240912
Again - if it helps and there's anything else, let me know!
