Immobiliser fault. Please help me out Thanks!
hi guys,
My S2000 is not starting and i think it's the immobiliser fault. It's bloody irritating to say the least!
My car is a jap import and its fitted with a TOAD immobiliser. I've left the car parked up for about 2weeks and can't get it started now. When i tried starting and the engine wouldn't crank, i thought the culprit was the battery, after charging it with another running engine, i began to suspect the problem is due to the immobiliser.
When i switched the ignition key on, the imobiliser light kept flashing which is normal, so i had to disarm the immobilier by waving the fob over it. After waving the fob over, the light went off. Thats normally the sign of the immobiliser disarming. But when i tried to start the engine, i only heard a click and nothing happens! I'm almost 100% sure it's not due to the weak battery because the starter did not even attempt to turn at all. It's just the click sound that's comming from the dash area.
Not satisfied, i took out the battery and switched it over to another car and the car started without any problems! So battery problem is ruled out.
Now, what could be wrong with the immobiliser? I thought i disarmed it already, since the blinking light went off, but as soon as i try to start, only one little click comming from somewhere in the dash.
I need help desperately. Any suggestions? Could the relay be faulty?

There were known problems with the wiring on pre MY04 cars which had the CAT1 alarm/immobiliser retro-fitted in the UK. There's apparently a connector underneath the driver's side kick plate where some of the soldering can dry out, and the fault was typically fixed under warranty.
However, I'm not sure if this would apply to a JDM car ...

You say you can hear a click when you press the start button so I'd check if the starter relay is closing. If it is then the engine should crank. If it does not crank then logically I'd take a look at the starter motor. TBH if you are not an auto electrical whizz these days then your best bet is a good auto electrician or alarm specialist.
