Default im buying a s2k! :) tiny bit of advice please!? about jap s2k.

I posted this in amercan s2ki as well but i hope i can get all answers answered here. right im in the uk, and im picking up my s2k on saturday from a dealer. link below.

But my questions are? will this car really have done such little miles? i know it said hpi check and full service history, but its a import, and when it got shipped here and converted from killometers to miles, will the clock counter of been reset? its a 1999 Treg after all.
Also on the parkers new and used guide, it tells me to "Be aware as some japanese imports have sub-standard spec" what does that mean? does it mean that it wont be running 240bhp like the uk one? like a watered down version?

And lastly, is it possible to check for cracked retainers whle looking over car? or is it a top off job?

Amassive thanks you to anyone who can help! or be bothered to! thanks!

Hi. Your link isn't working so we can't see the ad. The sub-standard spec may refer to the half leather seats found on JDM cars.

Absolute no guarantee that the mileage is correct, you'll just have to use your best judgement as to wether the overall condition of the car matches up with the claimed mileage. Yes the car will have had the odometer converted from KM's to Miles and for some dealers it's to tempting for them to give it a hair cut whilst converting but like I said you've just got to use your best judgement. JDM cars have higher compression ratios and an ECU that has been mapped to run on 100 octane fuel which is readily available in Japan, this gave the JDM S2000's 250bhp(or ps can't remember which) as opposed to the UK's 237bhp. Due to the higher compression and 100 octane map you'll have to run yours on the best fuel you can get(V-POWER, Tesco 99 etc) otherwise you'll risk the engine detting.
Can't help you with the retainers but at the very least you'll need to take the came cover off.

all the time on v-power or tesco 99!? bloody hell. that could prove expensive! so is that what the parkers guide refered to then by "japanese imports have sub-standard spec" the half leather seats? but there full leather? or is it that its running a higher octane with different compression ratios? what is engine detting please? and does taking the cam cover off require a new headgasket ect? sorry im a ididot when it comes to the engines of cars. and thanks so much for your help guys! as im getting it tomorrow! yikes! lol

There a lot of mistakes in that ad, "Steering wheel reach adjustment, Steering wheel rake adjustment, Trip computer, Heated screen, Front armrest, Rear wiper, Full size spare wheel, Sunblind, Adjustable steering column/wheel"

It's also not an import, or at least it doesn't have the telltale JDM signs.

Why do you think it's an import? There's no mention of that in the ad, and judging by the rear bumper and the seats, it's not a JDM.

Jap imports have a different sized cut out in the rear bumper for their different shaped rear number plates, it's an easy way to spot a JDM. If it's an import then more than likely it's an EU import, to all intents and purposes it's the same as a UK car. I think the original Honda warranty was different for import cars, but seeing as yours is well out of date then that's nothing to worry about.

You can run it on Regular or Super Unleaded, most choose the Super stuff but it's up to you really. I don't see the need to take the cam cover off, but it's advisable to fit a new gasket if you do. In a UK car you can flip the speedo between Miles or KM, I don't see why a EU car would be any different.
