Most aftermarket exhausts drone to some extent. For noise, an intake is the way to go, but don't expect any performance improvements.

As s2konroids says, "have a 'good' read around" before you make any more bad decisions
My car doesn't have a honda history, I've read that it's not a good thing on here due to fact the dealers don't have much experience with the cars etc.

I'll have a search around about intake modifications.

Talking of bad decisions, does your car have a private plate on it something along the lines of "S2000X"?

Dealers vary, some good, some not so good although all will follow the schedule and do things like valve clearances.

You're probably best off searching the UK forum for answers to things. Tip to help you: use the search box from within the UK page - you'll get better answers, or use the advanced search as per the instructions here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/894...t__p__20942430

No, I don't have a private plate, waste of money IMO.

Oh ok, I don't think the dealer premium is worth paying TBH. I've always taken my car to independent specialists and will do so with the S2000 too.

I'll search in the UK forums from now on, I only use this forum as a last resort anyway.

Saw an early black S2000 in my area the other day with that sort of plate and thought it might have been you.

Fair enough, although dealers are not necessarily as expensive as you might think. I'd love to use TGM, but the time and hassle of getting there and back doesn't make it worthwhile for me. If and when my engine goes bang, I'll probably get TGM to replace it, though.

What's your area?

Well I live in hertfordshire too so I have a Honda main dealer 10 mins down the road in enfield but IME main dealers charge a lot more than specialists for not a lot more service. I used to commute daily from here to woking for my last employer so going a little bit further to TGM on a saturday is no problem for me.

Have a read of this post, it proves that's not the case (and dealers will price match nowadays anyway) https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/110...t__p__23449421

The dealer I used was Crown in Bushey, who are pretty good and give good discounts to S2KUK members, so worth a look for basic stuff.

Interesting reading. The person I bought my car from lived close to TGM so all the work on the car in recent years has been done there and I've read a lot of good things about them so I'm happy to go there, like I said it's no problem.

Out of curiosity though, what discount do S2K members get? What proof do they ask for of membership? Also do they include a courtesy car as that could sway the decision for me...

Bear in mind that most local (Hertfordshire) dealers offer a club discount if you are a member of S2KUK! Your dealer in Enfield is part of the Brayley Group. I use their St Albans branch and always get a discount which pays for my subs several times over.

This forum does make me laugh a bit. I'm pretty sure it was in one of the FAQ's I read shortly after I joined that essentially said to avoid main dealers because of their lack of knowledge of the cars, and because of reports of dealers damaging the cars while they were in. And now 2 people on this thread saying that main dealers are both worth going to and competitively priced, conflicting information!

Forcing an ECU reset will make it relearn the fuelling, if it's been driven like Miss Daisy it will make quite a difference. But it will never be like a pre facelift car which has quite an aggressive VTEC changeover.

Look at most after market filters, they are fully exposed, try it and go for a roof down drive, or you can take the lid off, push the clips back up and put the lid over them, that will give you a 5mm gap all round without the concerns of getting heat soak in the winter.
