Default ideal tyres size on a 9" rim

Hello everyone

I will be getting my new wheels soon. 17x9 et42 all round and i need to sort out what tyres to get. I basically have a couple of options

Option 1 being 245/40 all round (worried front may poke out too much)
Option 2 being 225/45 front 255/40 rear (worried that a 225 will have too much stretch and 255 will rub)
Option 3 being 225/45 front 245/40 rear (worried that a 225 will have too much stretch and the two rolling sizes are about 10mm different)
Option 4 being 235/40 front and no idea what on the rear

Bit lost now on what to think and what works well front to back.

Note - 245/40/17 on this wheel will not rub on standard suspension as there is already a guy on here running this setup. I will be getting my arches rolled as soon as I get round to making my mind up on how I want to lower the car

All thoughts will be greatly appreciated

Regards

Harvey

You may have to get the geo altered so the wheels sit at angle inside the arch as they will rub irrespective of arch rolling.

indeed i will be running a little more camber when the car is lowered but with standard suspension it should not be a problem

If it was me I'd put 225 or 235 up front and 255 on the rears, no idea if it'll rub though

Same,I don't know about rubbing issues. I am running 9.5s and have 235 fronts 265 rears, but Falken 452s which are quite narrow I am led to believe. I think a lot will depend on what offset you will be running.

Sorry I never noticed you put the offset,I am running et 38 offset.Be careful having the arches rolled, if you check out my build thread you will see the problems I had.

I would think with et48 + 255s and having your rear arches rolled you should be Ok with a 30mm drop but you may have to move the bumper tab.

So the stretch on your 9.5 rim and 235 tyre up front will be very similar to a 225 tyre on a 9" rim, I've looked through your threads and couldn't find what I was after, is there any chance you would have a picture of the stretch? Just want to make sure it's not ott

it also all depends what profile tyre you go for

a 225-35 will have more stretch then a 225-40

use the website www.willtheyfit.com to get a 100% accurate idea of how it works.

Well if needs be I will have to run more aggressive camber to eliminate the rubbing. Lowering is the next on the list and I will have to do some research to find a spring that has similar characteristics as standard. Maybe a little stiffer
