Default Ice Ice Baby

First defrosting for me today. And first drive in the ice. Be careful out there people! It takes a very long time for your tyres to warm up in this kind of weather, and if you're running low on tread, that will increase the time too. I had no moments to scary, but you can't take your mind off the driving when the roads icy. Consider yourselves warned.

Makes me wonder what Bedford in December is going to be like, it's going to take forever to warm the tyres up.

Once part-warm, the tyres re-heat fairly quickly.

Anyway, a cold, wet track IS the best place to practice. The car is quite good at drifting (four-wheel drifts, not the silly ballerina stuff!)

I found the brand new S02s great this morning. But then that was in comparison to the 0mm tread I had until Tuesday

Yup, but 20mph traffic doesn't do the trick

I'm happy with 4 wheel drift, and the cold will mean the speeds to achieve it are probably less which is probably a good thing. The rears tend to have a bigger problem than the fronts.

One way or another Bedford will be fun. But hopefully not in the same way that the Nordschlief is in the wet.

if it's dry, the tyres will warm up pretty quickly and you won't have a problem. If its wet, you'll have to work a bit harder to get some heat in the tyres.

I did a wet day at donnington in december last year. the tyres got warm not hot, but enough to get reasonable grip, even on worn tyres.

What's really cheesed me off, is that i leant the s2k to my girlfriend on tuesday whilst i used her car to pick up a fireplace. got in it on wednesday morning, drove off, accelerated on to the dual carriageway and the car pulls to one side. i pull over and find only 16 psi in my nearside rear.

great. the tyre's got 3mm of tread left that i was going to finish off at bedford and now i'm going to have replace them both prior to the trackday.

Vtec for me this morning. 1st gear = wild, 2nd gear = 15 degree hang to the left!, 3rd gear = twitching left-right (a little worried now but still the throttle is planted!). 4th = very slight grumbing and sensation in my back that says, 'keep your wits about you'

All in all pretty hairy TBH, any frostier than this morning and I'd be worried!

Wish I could have had the roof down this morning - it's glorious here. Too much frost on it though and my journey to work only takes 15 minutes.

This is the only car I've ever had where I wished I had a longer commute

Does this not ruin the roof material, ?
