OK I am thinking about putting the S2000 back on the road so I go off to one of the online I companies for you know what.

OK first quote I put through am 100% truthful and say Euro Import UK Spec, second quote I 'lied' and said UK car so variation N/A, just to see what difference it made.

The best quotes are

I bet the import was cheaper, purely because you wouldn't have posted a thread otherwise Oh, and it says in the title

Wonder why that is

With ?? though.

But yes, very strange.

Still though certain companies refused to give a quote as it was an import

Was the quote cheaper on the basis that the import would have a more limited mileage warranty, thus likely to fall into disrepair earlier if owned by an impecunious owner, and thus meaning it would become a garage queen or worse, limiting the potential for an accident-related insurance claim?

How weird.

Who can second-guess the lunacy that drives insurance companies?

I'll try though; maybe that've found EU import buyers are generally cannier than the average showroom common fodder, possibly are more clued-up so have less claims overall. Especially some UK cars will go straight onto the fleet market & be wrecked.

When I was looking to get quotes for the S2000 the Euro imports were always coming back cheaper than the UK cars.

Maybe a smaller percentage of euro imports have had claims against them than uk cars, purely by chance. There can't be that many about so there may not be enough to give a realistic assessment of the risk.

Wouldn't have thought so, the car is even beyond the UKDM mileage and age warranty so no issue anyway

So I can save money by buying the same car from europe and I can save money on the old I as well

Hmm why should anyone buy a UKDM S2000 ??

Oh yes, so the alarm can go off constantly and so they can have the locking wheel nuts that break also don't forget the remote boot opener that doesn't work
