I drove an A6 at work today. I thought it was crap but I didn't go and post that on the Audi forum. Why would I?
because everyone already knows they're crap?

Shame the S wasn't for you
Each to their own & enjoy the 911
Realistically you can't expect everyone on here to agree with your opinion

even wrote a very quick ownership report not along after having the S - impressed with the handling, gear change (especially the gear change infact) and the engine.

....

Small cabin, buzzy engine, tinny zorst, thin panels, loose steering....all the things I had read about came to haunt me.
Hmmm, didn't have much of a test drive before laying out a substantial amount of cash?

Small cabin - yep, it felt really wierd to start with, now I wouldn't have it any other way

buzzy engine - do you do lots of motorway miles? If so, I can list more suitable cars

tinny zorst - strange comment, you knew what it sounded like when you bought it. Cheap to replace.

thin panels - another slightly bizarre comment - do you mean you suffered far more dings in car parks than you envisaged?

loose steering - you complimented the steering to start with - what changed? Its not go the most communicative steering but surprised it took you so long to decide that.

I'm not blind to the merits of other cars - often people are in the market for a soft top and I will warn them off an S2000 - but it suits a minority very, very well. Fair dues if you didn't get on with it, strange to come onto this board to slag it off though.

Glad you like your 911 - I really used to want one, still do, but it would have to be a GT3/RS - I appreciate the raw nature of the S2000 and I'd look for the same in my next car

Actually will someone slap me because last night the thought of swapping my S came bulldozing across my mind.

I dropped a guest off down near the beach and it was a balmy night and I was driving back - top down and I drove past the Audi garage and there in the window under all the twinkling lights was the most gorgeous White Audi TT Convertible.

I must confess to more than an admiring glance - I went back and had a good look (although I didn't exit the S).

Now I've never driven an Audi TT - A3's, 4's and 6's but never a TT and this one just looked gorgeous sat in the showroom. It was all pretty and clean and virgin like.

I can still feel a twinge to wanting to test drive it but don't want to just in case it charms me - then on the other hand I might drive it and think what a pile of crap - it just looks pretty.

So - slap away

I don't find the S perfect either, but if someone could have pointed me in the direction of a better roadster for the money, I probably would've considered that instead.

CJ - test drive the TT. In my experience - you might be able to get it to perform somewhere near the S with less skill and concentration. I find the peak appeal of the TT begins and ends with the experience you've already had of it.

See, it must have been a dream. Had no balmy nights snice last summer in this country!
