I tried, but we just didn't get on

Jeez!
I missed the original post, but I suspect it was much like my own 1st posts here?
I got the S2 and it rained, and rained, AND RAINED.
I figured I made a huge mistake.
Now?
Well things are a little different.
The S2 is a focussed bit of kit. the sort of thing the big H do well - a real contradiction with the bulk of Hondas motors.
The S2 only works if you drive like you stole it.
That's just fab, when you're in the mood, but I suspect, as you get older [I'm tempted to say - as you grow up seeing some of the posts back to this poor guy] well, you just aint in that sort of mood as often. Especially in winter.
The wet handling, and cabin ventillation make the S2 a liability in the winter.
Conversely, a bit of sun, roof off and bouncing it off the limiter can be one of the most fabulous days you'll ever have.
I menaced a Mitsubushi GTO all the way into and out of Chippenham bypass yesterday and the S2 was sensational!
It's a summer car. It really is.
You can endure winter, but it's crap.
Now I've got the hang of driving it, i'm still struggling.
Because cops, cameras and traffic density mean the days you can really rag it are too few and far between, and besides, on a lovely day, I'd rather be on the RR or the NSR?
What else to buy?
Well for 20k - not a damn thing.
Make no mistake, for the money, the S2 is unrivalled.
But I'm lucky, I've come into a few bob, and have a nice shortlist of new wheels to buy - albeit at twice the price.
I'll look back fondly at the S2.
And if they build another with 300+ brake that can exploit the ever smaller gaps in the traffic, then I'd happily get another.

I've been 'bouncing' and 'menaced' a Carrera 4 convertible on my favourite bit of road on the way back from swimming this morning. I certainly didn't disgrace myself and am still buzzing.
I've had the car for eleven months and it is so rewarding to have learnt its strengths and limitations. Contrary to what clarkie says getting older doesn't seem to have dampened my enthusiasm, in fact I've got more me time to indulge myself.

Defensive arn't we on here!
i think everything rover ever did was sh1t and that includes the engine in many elises so that puts me off, then there's the basic nature of the spec and the suspect build quality. for these reasons alone it's not for me.

[QUOTE=gaddafi,Jul 6 2007, 07:24 PM] the RS4 I drove was an avant - no idea what suspension it had but it was firm
no I haven't owned one
didn't feel any quicker than my beemer, and less room and toys, so

This Honda S2000 thing was an odd experience.
Let's leave it at that!
Let's leave it at that!
Each to their own ofcourse,Ive had 2, enjoyed both but ultimately there are other cars out there for me. I think the S is cracking value at 10K, I still think the handling of the car is questionable though!
Good luck

At 33k it sounds like a B5 you test drove and not B7. Avant is a heavier car and most B7 avants are specced with non sports suspension.
it was a new car
