Personally I think the gay right foot option was more accurate.

It could also be that he never knew how to brake. So he could not have forgotten.

Also alcohol over the years may have disconnected a few neurones. Don't worry, you know your most important limb does not need connecting with the brain.
You're right. As I wrote to a female colleague today in an e-mail (who threatened her viagra-related spam on me unless I made it go away), a few vodka/red bull's and I become the human sledgehammer, so that limb is indeed safe.

And with that, I'm away to dust off my last bottle of wine.

What did we conclude, that I'm making it up, or that the pedal isn't positioned right for me? Maybe I'll shift my seat about and see if things improve.

I'd always thought it was that my left foot is more used to the 'all or nothing' operation of the clutch, whereas the right foot is more used to more controlled operation. I always have to think verrry hard when using the left foot on the brake pedal (showing brake lights to tailgaters etc )

Still remember my first outing in an automatic as a youngster, on slowing down, looking for something for my left foot to do... nearly through the windscreen!

I'm with Sylvie on this one.

I spent years playing the piano (cue pianist jokes), but now my fingers just don't work the right way ! It's not just muscle tone, but the messages just don't get there properly.

Your left foot is not used to making progressive type movements (unless you do karting or something else) but sudden movements like depressing the clutch - the right foot and leg are generally very well trained to progressive small movements as per accelerator/brake.

I'm not sure about positioning of the brake pedal as I've never checked, but enough race drivers etc. manage left-foot braking !

Left foot braking isn't the problem though, it's getting my right foot to lose some of the feel and just brake properly like my left one does. This is making more sense now I'm drunk again. My right foot feels too much I thinj. Left foot is dumb, and therefor brakes better?

Well kinda - my theory is that you haven't learnt the behaviour for your right foot to behave as your left foot - you've trained it to be progressive and sensitive, not to just clamp the pedal down, so to speak. So it hasn't been trained or developed to blindly step on the pedal?

Something to do with Muscle memory? This goes back to what was said about your left leg being used to operating the clutch and the right leg being more progressive on the brake pedal.

I think left-foot is more like an on/off switch, whereas right-foot is used to the progressive acceleration/braking.

I know when I try to draw with my left hand, it either move very slowly or have jerky movements.
