and the odd car that does come up against me and is likely to thrash me (I'm thinking M3s, 996s, big turbo 4x4 saloons etc), they don't seem keen to play.
that's most likely because they simply can't be arsed

every Nova on the planet and every embittered sprog owner wants to race or 'put one over' a serious performance car

so most of the time you treat them with the disdain inferior machinery deserves

at best, you might be put in your place, but as for a race, forget it

I think this is fine, and to be expected

what winds me up is when people get obstructive

I hear ya, Gaddafi. CTRs race a lot, as do little souped-up shopping trollies which aren't worth the time of day, but what annoys me most is people in banal saloons thinking it's funny to race on the motorway - as I mentioned, I'm on nine points so on the motorway I do about 75mph-78mph. And I can keep a constant speed - cruise control is not necessary. So why do these pr1cks in Mondeos, Vectras and the like which are travelling at <70mph think it is funny to wait until I'm alongside, and then edge their speed up to about 80mph? Do they think I can't get past a 1.9CDTi Vectra with its crappy indicators? Do they think I'm somehow going to be impressed with their complete lack of manners? No. PICK A SPEED AND STICK TO IT, YOU CLOWNS!

I've had a few races with my dad (Tomcat off here) with me in my cos and him in the S. In a staright line the cos would eat him alive, but point and squirt stuff from low speeds would make me look silly... By the time that giant turbo had spun up, he'd gone... Oh, and i also got passed on a roundabout in the dry by an S He had me fair and square, i was well impressed.... Then we hit the dual carraige way... thats when 360bhp comes in handy

Only because the A429 is a fast, sweeping road, and as I have mentioned I'm on the verge of a ban... and it was late... and frankly, I don't get much opportunity to open the S2K up any more. So I knew that when I left the village I'd be going faster than 60 (units undefined). And I didn't want to follow a stinking Land Rover through the uphill sections...

I'm normally quite happy for things to come past me. That lets more people see the car!

When I was out and about in the Testarossa 9 out of 10 times when challenged I could never be bothered to get involved......when you are driving a Ferrari such challanges are pointless because no matter how quick the other car may be on paper it's obvious which car is the one you'd rather be in

Andy, again, probably just wanted to avoid any confrontation I guess. Done that one too when not in the mood! (or next to something very tasty!)

I had just had my STi mapped and driving home through some twisty A / B roads and went past a Silver S. He took the bait and did a damned fine job of keeping up with me, which I was shocked at mainly becuase it was VERY wet, and he was pushing it on the bends. Was an older bloke with his missus as passenger

Got to a dual set of lights and he sat behind me. I did have a 0-60 time of about 4.2 seconds though

Bet she was not best pleased tho...

Seems strange then, for 'somebody not in the mood' to go to all the effort of catching me in the first place and then play cat and mouse for 10+miles along the motorway to not fancy a bit of a blast on a clear road when given the opportunity...

I'd obviously demonstrated the full capabilities of the 'S' and/or the scooby driver had realised it wasn't an MX5 after all

When in the S I would sometimes follow a wrung out TDi (why are they always Golfs or Audis?)

They would be at 11/10ths and I would drive with one hand and one elbow on the door

Nothing to do with my driving ability and everything to do with the car's

In the Fezza I simply wouldn't bother, apart from an occasional straight line blast to make a point

I don't get serious racing on public roads. Is that about proving how more of a man you are?

There can't be too many arguments who has the better machinery in any pairing

I'll take the kit and no ability over ability and the DSS any day
