Interesting account and it shows what difference lots of torque makes when putting the hammer down at 75+.
I used to have a modified Lotus Carlton some years ago which was around 500lbs/ft and if it would accelerate in 5th (of 6) from 30 to 70 in about 5-6 seconds and smoke the rear tyres at the same time. (or 0-100 in about 10 seconds)
That would have dealt with your Mercedes for certain as I used to wave goodbye to the planks in their M3's & M5's every time with ease, but the style of driving an S is totally different.
They are all good cars, but significantly different in their generation of pace at speed.

I had a great run with a DB7 (I think is was a DB7 big aston anyway) recently He only got a couple of car lengths 70 - 140 Kph! then he just kinda smoothly pulled away to warp stupid speeds!! I think he was quite suprised though judging by the way he kept checking his mirror!!
