Default I feel the need to wear a bra

....for the car. This is an American thingy I think but does anyone know where they can be sourced. I understand that you can get clear ones to protect from stone chips etc.

On the subject of stone chips, is there a clear sheet that can be stuck on the paintwork to protect it?

I should say that I now have a Golf R32 but a stone chip is a stone chip...

Any details gratefully accepted.

Despite the serious provocation of the thread title I will stiff manfully to hold this thread 'on topic' (well, this is the 1st reply so It only seems fair.

OK 1st the helpful bit:

try www.autoanything.com

Secondly, the unsolicited, and nodoubt unwelcome personal opinion: These things are the work of the devil (on one of his 'off' days) - they look absolutely awful (even the clear ones) IMHO. As I am sure you know, they are very common in the US / Canada. I have seen many on the interstates at speed flapping about wildly - I believe this must be causing all manner of fine scratching to the front of the car - worse (again IMHO) than a few stone chips which whilst undesirable, are an inevitable consequence of driving a fast car fast! The numbers can be minimized by driving sensibly (I said 'sensibly'....not slowly!) - i.e. Don't tailgate!

Just my 2p

Seconded. Hideous waste of money that destroys the paintwork.

If you manage to get a bra for your car, you will attract lots of attention. Sort of like the Martians on the Smash Potato advert.

On the other hand it may improve the looks of the Golf.

alway did think these looked awful when I lived in the US, however I thought they were used primarily as some kind of speed radar avoidence

thing is why buy a car for amongst other things it's looks and then stick something on the front that make it look so awful???
