Advice above is basically correct - there is a chance that when you peel the tape back there may be imperfections in the paint beneath - it is relatively common (aprox 1 in 10 IIRC) for there to be areas which look like they have been rubbed down with wire wool prior to tape application.
Once the tape is off, it aint going back on - it stretches and creases and tears. If things are ugly underneath there are 3 possible solutions - if things arnt too bad a session with some mildly abrasive polish (Autoglym silicon resin polish for eg) may sort things out, otherwise it is either a re-spray of the window frame or the re-application of some new tape (no idea what this costs).
