I designed some roll-hoop speaker enclosures.
Having seen some designs for roll-hoop speakers aver the years, they all seemed to come up short. Either the design was good but executed badly or the design was just pants.
My requirements:
I used my Revopoint Miraco to take the scan.
Then, over to Instand Meshes to generate a quad-mesh:
In to Autodesk Fusion to create a solid:
I designed an enclosire that fits either side of the roll hoop and clamps in place. I did this by designing an enclosure that is too large and then taking the roll hoop away from it.
A test print in PLA to ensure it fits:
Spot on. Now, printed in carbon-fiber reinforced nylon.
Sounds great after messing with sound balance and speaker delay.
I clipped some panels over the back to hide the bolt holes.
My requirements:
- Minimum speakers size of 5.25"
- No cutting or drilling of the S2000s interior
- Cannot interfere with the seat-back
I used my Revopoint Miraco to take the scan.

Love it. Me and my brother in law enjoyed printing off some speaker rings for the door speakers on his 3D printer. Much easier but as an engineer it’s great to go through the design process using software and hardware!

Excellent work Rilot love to see it
This is excellent work buddy, I love it.
I'd love to print some of these for my S2k also, any chnace you would share the. Stl files? Happy to throw you some 'beer money' for your troubles as I can appreciate a decent amount of time and effort has gone into designing this!
Top work!

Looks good but most of the prep work went over my head, on our previous S I installed speakers into the gaps in the seat headrests after removing the silver/grey plastic covers on the back, make a decent difference to the sound.

Sure thing. I'll post them up tonight when I get back from work.
I've made a few changes to the design since posting. Still fundamentally the same though.
And they work really well. The additional rear fill means I can actually hear my podcasts with the roof down!

I have a Sony DSX-GS80 headunit that has a pretty powerful amp in it already (50W RMS per channel). I run these off the rear output of that. The reason for that headunit is I wanted to avoid an amp for the mids and tweets if at all possible. That headunit is really the only option.

Even more impressive after slicing the .STL files!
