I've upgraded mine because the stock was useless. The speakers were awful the and head unti was primitive.

If you like your music when driving, you have to upgrade. I have recently binned my spare wheel which means all in all the weight difference with the sub etc. is balanced out.

I don't sit at lights or crawl through town with it blaring....the car attracts enough attention as it is. The setup is for me....and no one else.

If I'm in the mood...its excellent...roof up or down....if I'm not..it stays switched off.

Rear Speaker are not essential to hear the system with the roof down, a good set of amped comps will do the job quite nicely. And you will still have a sound stage where its supposed to be.... in front of you.

There are also many self leveling headunit out there so you dont have the problem of the banging system at the lights syndrome.

And headunit not bling simple real solid alloy face no bells and whisles. With nice in harmony 'orange' display...

noticed you guys are using spacers inbetween the door and the speakers. is this to pack the speaker out of to fit a smaller/larger speaker in to the current hole?

reason i ask is that i too want to sort the speaker/sound setup out on the s in the next few weeks.

Nachi are you a member on TA ?
I'm not but I did lurk once or twice and bought a few bits from some members. I think you and I exchanged a few PMs a while back when I was deciding what to buy.

I actually went down to Genesis's HQ in Southend and met with Gordon a couple of times - thoroughly nice bloke and some awesome kit there that is a joy to listen to!

I'm a far way off a competition setup like yours but I'd still be interested to see what you think of my SQ

MDF Spacers are definately the way to go - the standard basket is too restrictive plus this allows you to choose from a wider range of speakers..I'm running 5.25'' as they are reported to 'sing' better than 6.5s in some cases. Just trace the standard basket onto MDF - easy.

Oli.

It's not my bag, I've kept the stock headunit in mine, I find it more than adequate. Doesn't strike me as the best car for filling up with amps, being noisy and short on space but each to their own and all that.
