Hybrid S2000?

Sadly I think this is the future
every friday at work I am given the motoring section out of the sun newspaper and its always full of hybrid and electric cars,
And as we all know its getting harder to run cars like ours

I just think hybrids and other eco cars will become the work horses, and the exciting stuff will still be powered by petrol certainly for the time being. Yes I know Audi have the R8 E-Tron and Merc are doing an SLS E-Cell, but I suspect that's more for PR than for real sales figures.
There will be a day when everything is powered by something other than petrol, but it won't be a while just yet.

Why not have an eco car for pootling around town/commuting/food shopping?
Thing is though, if I wanted a car to do the things above, it'd need to be practical, not some stupid two seater with a tin-top.
I can't see the point of bringing a supposed 'roadster' to the market that's going to be a) heavy b) underpowered.
Might as well call it the Honda 307cc.
