continues to make me laugh when people talk about paying cash for a car.......
While anyone owes money on their house in the form of a mortage which lets face it most of us do........then as far as I am concerned the car is not strictly bought and paid for. Yes you own the title to the car but while you still owe money to the bank in terms of a mortage then I consider the car to be 'on credit'
Why?
Because the 24k or so you paid for the car could have been thrown at the mortage to either reduce the term/amount owed and/or the interest paid on the loan....
Conclusion
While you owe

Wow, paid off the house AND bought the car for cash, I am definately in the wrong job or I was born to the wrong parents!
Me, I have a 50k mortgage and a loan for a 25k car, my plans are to combine the two.......
Before anybody rants about should have put it towards the mortgage, yep I agree. But then I would still be driving in a pink prawn (seat arosa) being called a poof Besides I always wanted a decent car.

Exactly TinTop, you gotta live fella and enjoy. Whats better? 25 k in the bank or an S? Go for the S. It brings experience and fun. Money? A big pile of boring paper.
Just has to be kept within limits.
Oh, my parents had nothing at all - I was born into a single parent family and we lived in council housing until I was 9. Recipe for disaster? You`d think so. But it proves one thing, they told me what was right and what was wrong and never blended into the surrounding environment.
My mother remarried and told me the benefits of working hard.
(But now I do as little as possible, I`ve earned that right!).
