Can anyone tell me the answer to this please, if the H&P alarm is disconnected/removed, does the S still have an immobiliser ? I believe there's one built into the key, is that correct?
and would the door and boot locks still function via the remote fob or not?

I'm not bothered about having the alarm anymore but it would still be nice to have an immobiliser and remote locking.
Also is there anywhere to buy a ignition key from without paying Honda main dealer prices? the S is a pre-facelift 52

Don't bother with a key off eBay, I had one and couldn't have it coded as for some reason it wouldn't accept the coding, ended up getting one from the honda dealership for £50 coded which is the same price as buying a key off eBay and having it coded.

Yes, you still have an immobiliser
You'd need to use the "Honda" fob, that came with your car, rather than the H&P fob. It looks like this:


Very important, this. You'll also need to tell your insurer you no longer have a Cat1 Immobiliser.

I didn't realise they were that kind of price for a key, I expected them being about £170-180, I shall try my local dealer for that then.

I don't have a fob like that, just the all black one with two buttons side by side with 1 dimple up and one dimple down, maybe it would be easier to rip the old H&P alarm out and replace it with a decent cobra or Clifford alarm so it's still cat 1 to keep the insurance happy and presumably they have the facility to lock/unlock remotely?

Is the H&P broken? If not, I'd leave it until it does fail.

If it is, then you can replace it with another H&P, or go for something aftermarket (which is likely to cost you a fair bit more).

Installers used to offer removal as part of the job last time i had it done

I wouldnt want the car to not be immobilised personally

Replacement H&P boards are £170.
Replacement aftermarket alarm will cost you a lot more.

What I actually meant was - What's wrong with "his" one?
I did loads of research about alarms before finally deciding the best thing to do was to replace the board (£170).
