How To Test Your Laser Detector
I am suspicious of the laser detector in my S, so I called Origin who gave me this useful titbit:
To test a laser detector reliably, use a mobile phone (Nokia 6310 in my case) to send a business card via IrDA. IrDA uses frequencies that are similar enough to laser guns to trigger the unit.
I have tested the Celica install and it works ok, but haven't had chance to test the S yet (it's at home). Incidentally, I am doing this because I've been through three speed traps in recent days (in the S) and the Origin hasn't uttered a peep.

I have a weird thing happen sometimes, if i move my driver door mirror control thingy the laser alarm goes off!!
Need to re-install the thing, it might be cos the laser cable ran down near there somewhere

I consider myself fortunate if my Z600 can hold a transmitter, whilst the headset finds the phone long enough for me to have a telephone conversation!
Still, a top tip for those more patient of gadgets than myself!

So, from this we can assume that anyone attempting to obtain a lock using their mobile is going to trigger the alarm.
Now, if we can only convince the police to use mobiles......

Didn't detectors used to be set off by automatic opening doors (eg supermarkets) ? Or was that old radar detectors ?
